Our Approach

The 4R Framework & 6D Implementation Model.

A research-backed, practitioner-tested system for building restorative school cultures that last — from initial awareness through long-term sustainability.

The 4R Framework

Four Principles. One Restorative Culture.

The 4R Framework is the philosophical and practical foundation of all our work. It moves schools from a reactive, punitive orientation toward a proactive, relational one — grounded in four interconnected principles that build on each other.

Relationship

The Foundation of Everything.

Restorative school culture begins with authentic, trusting relationships — between students and teachers, among peers, and across the entire school community. Without strong relationships, accountability becomes punishment and community becomes compliance.

Responsibility

Accountability Rooted in Care.

Restorative responsibility shifts the question from 'What rule was broken?' to 'Who was harmed, and what do they need?' Students learn to understand the impact of their actions and take genuine ownership of repair — not because they fear punishment, but because they care about their community.

Repair

Restoring What Was Broken.

When harm occurs, restorative processes bring those affected together to address needs, restore trust, and rebuild community. Repair is not about erasing what happened — it is about acknowledging it, addressing it, and moving forward with integrity.

Reintegration

Coming Back with Dignity.

Sustainable restorative practice ensures that students who have caused harm — or experienced it — return to the community with dignity, support, and a clear path forward. Reintegration reduces recurrence, strengthens belonging, and signals that every student belongs here.

The 6D Implementation Model

A Structured Path from Training to Transformation.

The 6D Implementation Model is our proprietary roadmap for sustainable school culture change. It guides schools through six sequential phases — ensuring that restorative practices become embedded in the fabric of school life, not just a one-time training event.

01

Discover

We begin with a comprehensive school culture audit — assessing current discipline data, staff readiness, existing relationships, and community context. This phase establishes the baseline and informs a customized implementation plan.

02

Design

Together, we co-design a multi-year implementation roadmap tailored to your school's unique context, goals, and capacity. This includes professional learning sequences, coaching structures, and sustainability milestones.

03

Develop

Staff receive foundational and advanced professional development in restorative practices — building the knowledge, skills, and mindsets needed to shift from punitive to restorative responses across all school contexts.

04

Deploy

Restorative practices are implemented across classrooms, hallways, and administrative spaces. Coaches provide real-time support, model practices, and help staff navigate challenges as they arise.

05

Deepen

As implementation matures, we deepen the work — expanding restorative practices to family and community engagement, developing internal restorative leaders, and addressing systemic barriers to equity and belonging.

06

Sustain

The final phase focuses on building the internal capacity and systems needed to sustain restorative culture without ongoing external support — including leadership development, peer coaching networks, and continuous improvement cycles.
